The Airdrie Page

 I would be very grateful for any information about the industrial and social development of Airdrie from 1800 to 1900.  Any information regarding local industries that made an impact on Airdrie town would be very usefull.  I was born in Bellshill,  and spent the first ten years of my life in and around Airdrie. I am currently study history at Derby University and would appreciate any help.

   The standard work is
   “New Monkland Parish: Its History, Industries, and people” by John Macarthur
   published in 1890
   Its a substantial tome, try the University’s inter-library loan service, they should be able to borrow you a copy.
