The "Diamonds" as they are affectionately known are/were the local football team and have been in the town since 1878. The distinctive diamond shape on their shirt gave them the nickname.
Many great footballing names have been associated with Airdrie FC through the years and the club has recently opened it's new all-seated stadium holding a capacity of 10,000. The New Broomfield took over from Broomfield as their home and is a million light years away from the old stadium in appearance. Last season was a mixture of good and bad where the club had major financial problems and this culminated in the demise of Airdrieonians FC, but then was resurrected in a new form as Airdrie United. This emerged from the takeover of Clydebank FC and so we now have a new team in the town. Similar to previous years we will follow the results of Airdrie United by posting scores after each game.

I visited Airdrie recently, and in fact went to watch them play Morton – one thing I cannot do is buy a replica shirt – everywhere seems sold out of them. Can anyone advise where I can buy a new shirt – suitable for a small adult?

Hello
I visited Airdrie recently, and in fact went to watch them play Morton – one thing I cannot do is buy a replica shirt – everywhere seems sold out of them. Can anyone advise where I can buy a new shirt – suitable for a small adult?
